REFEREE CLASSES
The need for more soccer referees in Michigan (and everywhere) is still very real, as evidenced by the number of games this past season that ran with few or no refs. There are referee courses on the horizon for those wanting to become an official. It's a great way to broaden your understanding of the game while making a difference and earning some money on the side. Ages 13+ can certify!
NEW REFEREE
Go to the website Michigan Soccer Referee Committee - become a referee to read about the requirements and to register for the class (must be 13 years old to start the process with USSF).
Referee certification begins with a virtual lesson before attending a single-day in-person course to test and get certified. Check here for upcoming in person courses.
If you certified in the past 6 months, please let us know so we can add you to our database: admin@salinesoccer.org
There are still WSSL Referee scholarship funds available!
NEW referees who are certifying for the first time and reside in WSSL communities are invited to submit a 500-word essay on why they chose to become a referee, along with copies of receipts from certification and equipment purchases.
Scholarship recipients can receive up to $200.
Email your submissions to wssladm@gmail.com while scholarship funding remains.
EXISTING REFEREE
Go to the website Michigan Soccer Referee Committee- recertification and follow their instructions.
